While canoeing with friends on Deer Lake in northern Minnesota, we got up close and personal with the lily pads and their beautiful blossoms - also known as Nymphaeaceae or water lilies. It’s somewhat difficult to realize they are “firmly” rooted under water. The general consensus among various cultures and traditions is that it symbolizes rebirth and enlightenment.
